Caverion Denmark has renewed its framework agreement with Energinet for overhead line work on the Danish transmission grid. The agreement marks an important step in the long-standing cooperation between the two companies and supports the continued development and maintenance of Denmark’s critical electricity infrastructure.
The framework agreement covers reinvestments, major maintenance projects and other project assignments on the 132 kV, 150 kV and 400 kV overhead line network. The agreement runs for three years, with an option to extend it for two additional one-year periods.
For several decades, Caverion and Energinet have worked together on a number of significant projects on the Danish transmission grid. Caverion is currently contributing, among other projects, to the refurbishment of the overhead line connection on Funen between Fraugde and Landerupgaard, as well as the overhead line connection on Zealand between Asnæsværket and Hovegaard.
Bjørn Krogsgaard Letager, Head of High Voltage (Overhead lines), welcomes the renewal of the agreement:
“The renewal of the framework agreement is strong recognition of the efforts of our employees, our organisation and the expertise we have built up in overhead line work over many years.”
Energinet also highlights the importance of strong partnerships as the expansion of the Danish electricity grid continues to accelerate:
“Over the coming years, Energinet will carry out a large number of projects to expand and strengthen the Danish electricity grid. As activity levels increase and projects become more complex, access to competent partners becomes increasingly important. Together with skilled partners, the right solutions must be identified to ensure a high level of security of electricity supply while supporting the development of the electricity grid of the future,” says Thomas Eybye Petersen, Senior Category Manager at Energinet.
Demand for electricity is increasing as society becomes more electrified, placing greater demands on both the maintenance and expansion of the Danish transmission grid.
For Caverion, the renewed framework agreement is therefore not only a continuation of its strong cooperation with Energinet, but also an active contribution to developing the infrastructure needed to support the energy system of the future.
Klaus Kjeldsen, Director of Caverion High Voltage, has been part of the industry’s development for more than 40 years and welcomes Energinet’s continued confidence:
“Over more than 40 years, I have seen how the Danish electricity grid has continuously evolved to meet society’s needs. With the increasing electrification of society, we face even greater investment needs and infrastructure requirements. I am therefore proud of Energinet’s continued confidence in Caverion. With our specialised expertise in overhead line work, we look forward to contributing to a robust and future-proof transmission grid, which is essential for security of supply and Denmark’s green transition.”
Caverion’s roots in overhead line work date back to 1907, when the company was known as E. Rasmussen. Since then, the organisation has played an active role for more than 100 years in establishing, expanding and maintaining Denmark’s electricity supply grid.
Today, Caverion’s high-voltage business is developing strongly and employs more than 100 people in overhead line work, high-voltage substations, cable installation and cable jointing. The framework agreement with Energinet will further support the organisation’s development:
“The agreement enables us to continue developing our organisation and strengthening our specialist expertise, while maintaining our position as a key player in the expansion and maintenance of the Danish transmission grid,” concludes Bjørn Krogsgaard Letager.
The total framework agreement has a value of DKK 810 million, with Caverion appointed as the leading contractor under the agreement.
